A little history about me and how I went to be a speedskater …
My parents are Marzena Zuk and Adam Ustynowicz. Mom is an Artist- painter, and horse riding coach, and dad is a filmmaker, he makes documentary films.
I grew up in Warsaw - in Stegny district. The same, where the ice track is located. Actually I live 10 minutes from ice rink.
I was raised by my Mom, and because my health condition, which was kind`a poor, she teached me how to swim, ride a horse and lots of stuff and finally she send me to a WTŁ Stegny club, where I made my first steps in speedskating. My first coach was Rafał Grabkowski. After 2 years I advanced to a better group, which was coached by Grzegorz Kałowski. After another few, nervous years (I was very difficult and shy child) I was kicked out from Stegny.
Than good times started for me... I was discovered by Andrzej Święcicki and I joined RKS Marymont - the best club ever! We were very small group, a bunch of kids actually, which I loved as much as my family. They ARE my familly!
Anyway...after 2 years I made a Polish Junior record on 500m - 36.64 in Collalbo. Week later I participated in World Juniors 2002, where I was 2nd on 500m.
Thanks to Coach Swiecicki I made a big progress, but I had finished Junior times, so I joined Polish National Sprint Team. I was training with Tomasz Świst, Rafał Gąsior, and Paweł Abratkiewicz. BIG sprint figures in Polish Speedskating. Later on Artur Waś, also from Marymont, had joined our team.
Everyone has quit, except Artur, who made a little break.
Than Paweł has started his coaching career. I`ve been working with him for 3 years, and it seems that we are making a fucking good job.

That’s my history as an athlete. It wasn’t colourfull all the time. In fact everyone has quit, because they haven`t seen future as a speedskater. You have to love that sport very much, to survive.
Another problem is with education.There are two ways in Poland. Sport OR education. No compromises! You have to be very smart to succeed in both.

I’m a student at the Academy Of Physical Education in Kraków, I’m in my 2nd Year.
Used to study Biology in Warsaw (SGGW), and AWF (Academy Of Physical Education) in Warsaw. But they kicked me out from both……
